Adult Discussion Group

The Thoreau Congregation's Adult Discussion Group (ADG) plays a vital role in the educational aspect of the UU experience. The ADG provides a forum for dialog on a variety of topics, both spiritual and secular, such as Comparative Religion, Social Justice, Mysticism, and Inner Peace.

Typically a presenter - usually a member of the congregation, but sometimes a guest speaker - gives about a 15-minute overview, followed by a moderated discussion. All participants are provided the opportunity to add their comments, but it is entirely acceptable to just listen and absorb what is being said. Occasionally ADG starts earlier to allow the group to view a video before the discussion. ADG meets in the Thoreau facility at 10:00 am on Sunday mornings in the lobby of Creative Consumer Research (our landlord). There are signs posted to direct visitors. Typically we have 20 to 30 participants; visitors (including "young adults") are always welcome.
